Michelle Lynn Scales Kelley 1969 2018

Obituary for Michelle Scales (Kelley) Michelle Lynn (Kelley) Scales, 49, of Bloomington died Monday, August 13, 2018 at her home. Born, June 1, 1969 in Harvey, Illinois, she was the daughter of Patricia (Clemons) and Robert Kelley. Michelle spent her elementary years with her mother and sister in Illinois, moving to the Bloomington area in 1982. She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1987. Michelle then entered the U.S. Air Force later that year. After leaving the Air Force she then returned to Bloomington where she met and married Tim Scales and had two sons. After holding a variety of jobs she returned to school, graduating from IVY Tech with an Associate of Science and then graduated from Oakland City University in 2003 with a Bachelor in Science. Michelle met and befriended many as she traveled through life whether through school, work or her colon cancer support network on Facebook, and once she was your friend she was fiercely loyal. She will always be remembered for her tenacity, strength, and positivity regardless of what life threw in her path. Michelle will also be fondly remembered for her love of all things Harry Potter, her love for animals, and her jewelry making skills. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 26 years, Tim, their sons, Brad (fiancé Kimberly), and Erik (fiancé Alley) all of Bloomington, mother, Patricia Kelley of Aurora, CO; sister, Robin (Don) Mapes and nieces, Cameron and Tess Mapes all of Aurora, CO; uncle, Ron Clemons of North Webster, IN; aunt Joanne (Bill) McClelland of Dallas, TX; aunt Maureen Clemons of Churubusco, IN; aunt Debbie Clemons of Ligonier, IN; brothers-in-law, Mike (June Marie), Roger, and Mark (Karen) and nieces and nephews, Bryant, Jordan, Bailey, Scotty, Nikki, and Chandra Michelle was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Fred and Therese Clemons and her uncle, Terry Clemons. Visitation will be 10am-12pm Monday, August 20, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington. Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Monday at The Funeral Chapel with Pastor Stephen Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Funeral Chapel or to Colon Cancer Coalition.
