Obituary for Martha Suntych Martha (Larsen) Suntych Martha Suntych, 86 of Grand Island died on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society-Grand Island Village. Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. There will be a funeral luncheon immediately following the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1 PM in the Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul, NE. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM till service time. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice. Martha was born on February 5, 1932 on the family farm in Hall County to Lawrence and Nellie Larsen. She attended country school, later moving to Boelus grade school, then moving to Grand Island where she graduated from Grand Island Senior High class of 1949. She worked at the Maid Rite Café, Capitol and Grand Theatre, and Leschinsky’s Studio. On March 26, 1951 she was united in marriage to Dale Suntych at Elba. Her husband was in the U.S. Air Force, where they started their lives together at Lackland Air Force Base and later at Brooks Army Medical School in San Antonio, Texas. Following Dale’s discharge from the service in January 1955 they moved to Elba where they took over the family General Merchandise Store until 1958 when they moved to Grand Island with their three sons. Martha started working at Bosselman and Eaton Café in 1958 and in 1959 she began working as a checker at OP Skags 5-Points until June 19, 1963. She started working for the First National Bank as bookkeeper in 1963. Later, she headed the Customer Service Department until 1982 when Norwest Bank acquired the First National Bank and she was promoted to the position of Personal Banker. She retired from the bank December 31, 1989. She then began working part time at Skagway North. Some of her enjoyments included traveling, interior decorating, crafts, playing cards and dancing. Survivors include her husband, Dale; three sons, Robert (Jodi) Suntych of Brookshire, TX, Jerry (Melissa) Suntych of Fredericksburg, TX and Bruce (Vickie) Suntych of Papillion, NE; grandchildren, Kenny, Michelle and Justin; great grandchildren, Jason, Peyton and Luke and several nieces and nephews.
