Obituary for Marlene Ann Knopp Marlene Ann Knopp, 74, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA. She was born in McKeesport on April 9, 1944, a daughter of the late Gilbert E. Cole and Elsie Ida Hewitt Cole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Jean Cole. She had lived in Pittsburgh most of her life until she moved in 1995 to Indianapolis, IN. She had her doctorate degree and graduated from Indiana University. Marlene worked for the governor of Indiana and helped write the high school curriculum for the public schools. She is survived by two sisters, Corrine Cole of Damascus, VA and Kimberly Bates and her husband, Ron, of Alberta, Canada; and two nieces and one nephew. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the graveside at Belle Vernon Cemetery in Belle Vernon.
