Obituary for Maria Angela Ares Maria Angela Ares age 86 died Saturday August 25, 2018 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. Mrs. Ares was born on the Island of Madeira, Portugal on July 11, 1932, a daughter to the late Eduardo and Angela Nobrega. She immigrated to the US in the late 1950’s and became a citizen in 1964. Mrs. Ares worked in the airline business in New York City for Pan AM and she opened the first Air Portugal Sales Office in the US on Fifth Avenue and worked with SAS in Queens, NY. She and her husband retired to Heritage Plantation in 1997 where she later volunteered at Waccamaw Community Hospital and the Myrtle Beach Airport. Mrs. Ares was very active with the Heritage Plantation Ladies Luncheon Group. Angela is survived by her husband of 56 years, John, sisters; Olga Nunes and husband Renato of Murrells Inlet, Manuela and Alexandra of Madeira, nephews; Ren Nunes and wife Mary Katherine of Charleston, Paul Pimenta of Morristown, NJ , neice’s; Isabel Pimenta of Madeira and Marta Pimenta of Old Bridge, NJ. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Jude and Shriners Childrens Hospital at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. A Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday September 1, 2018 at the Precious Blood of Christ Columbarium.
