Obituary for Margaret “Peggy” E. Gunden Margaret E. “Peggy” Gunden, age 69 of Farwell, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the MidMichigan Medical Center of Clare. On June 10, 1949, Peggy was born the only daughter of Evan and Norma (Goldesberry) Watkinson in Iowa City, IA. She was united in marriage to Jay Gunden on October 15, 2003 in Las Vegas, NV and the couple enjoyed nearly fifteen years of marriage. After growing up in Iowa and spending a brief time as a police officer there, Peggy traveled to Minnesota for nursing education. After earning her associate’s degree, she became an LPN. Her medical career took her through many areas of the country from Texas to Detroit, where she retired from in 2002. After retirement, she moved to her cabin in Lake George and later closer to Farwell. Peggy loved fishing, traveling, watching NASCAR and the Red Wings, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her friends and grandkids. She will always be remembered by her outgoing and feisty personality. Peggy is survived by her husband Jay Gunden of Farwell, her parents Evan and Norma Watkinson of West Branch, Iowa, her stepdaughter Jessica (Mark) Pulver of Lansing, and her grandchildren Hudson and Maclan Pulver. She is also survived by her brothers Mike (Lori) Watkinson of Apple Valley, MN, Donnie Watkinson of Lone Tree, IA, Jeff (Barb) Watkinson of Dyersville, IA, and Jerry (Shirley) Watkinson of Davenport, IA, thirteen nieces and nephews, and many friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her brother Charlie Watkinson. In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. An informal memorial potluck picnic will take place at the White Birch Lakes Campground Pavilion on Saturday, September 15th at 2pm in celebration of Peggy’s life.
