OBITUARY Magdalena L. Andrasic June 3, 1924 – July 16, 2018 Magdalena Leonides Andrasic (Majnaric) passed away Monday, July 16, 2018. She was at her daughter, MaryAnn Majnaric Miller’s home in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Magdalena was born in Subotica, Yugoslavia, June 3, 1924. She was born with a love and gift of music. Her first performance was at age 5 signing on the local radio station in Subotica. Her life would be full and active with music, teaching, and organizing groups. She would become a Catholic Nun at a young age. Magdalena would receive her education and training in music during this time. After leaving the convent she would be a teacher, choir director, and organist in Zagreb, Croatia. In 1957 she married Anton B Majnaric in Vienna, Austria and they immigrated to the United States making their first home in Cleveland. Northeast Ohio would never be the same. Magdalena would become active with the Polish and Croatian community in Cleveland. In the early 60’s Tony and Magdalena would join the Yugoslavian Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Adventists in Cleveland had a significant large community of Yugoslavians. Magdalena organized the choir that would consist of new immigrants from the “old country”. The “Yugoslavian Seventh-day Adventist Choir” would make an impact that would last a lifetime. Magdalena for 20 plus years would be active in the St. Paul Croatian Church in Cleveland. She was the director of the choir and music program for the church. She was a member of the Ladies Club. Magdalena was proud to be Croatian but was just as proud to be an American Citizen. She would become active with the International Institute where she would help others coming to this country prepare for their citizenship. Magdalena joined the Croatian Fraternal Union in the early 60’s and remained active until her passing. She was also an active member, and held several leadership positions for the Croatian Club in Akron Lodge 472. Magdalena lived a full life; she will be missed by her children; Lidija Majnaric Hankla (Will); Daniel Majnaric (Darla); MaryAnn Majnaric Miller (Darrell). Her grandchildren; Nicole Serle, Tyler Serle, William Hankla, III (Helen) Clinton Hankla, (Sarah), Nathan Majnaric, (Addie) Kyle Majnaric, Amy Miller, Anthony Miller, and niece Magda Stumpf. Magdalena, was preceded in death by her husband Anton B. Majnaric, son John A. Majnaric, and sister Kata Lolich. Celebration of Magdalena’s life will be held at: Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W. Market Street; Akron, Ohio 44333 phone: 330-665-1700. Friday, July 27, 2018. 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. calling hours and service at 1:00 p.m. reception following burial.
