Obituary for Lawrence C. Scroggins Lawrence C. (Larry) Scroggins , age 88, passed away Monday ,August 20, 2018 at Life Care Center of Columbia, TN. Larry was born in Limestone County, Alabama on August 26, 1929 to the late Willie Elmer and Nellie (Gibson )Scroggins. Larry was married to Mary Louise(Douglas) Scroggins for 67 extraordinary years. He worked in Columbia, TN for Tennessee Knitting Mills over 30 years and also served as pastor for approximately 3 years each for churches in Collingwood, Morristown, and Tullahoma in Tennessee. He also served as Gate Guard and Security Officer forSaturn Corporation in Spring Hill for 6 years. He was a member of the Church of God in Murfreesboro, TN. Larry was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and could quote scriptures and the Books of the Bible as easy as Children’s nursery rhymes. Even though his memory was failing in his final days, one of his last conversations was a partial sermon no doubt one he had preached many times before. He loved playing his guitar and singing the old gospel hymns at church and around anyone that would listen. He was a collector of coins, music records and tapes and anything else he could store in the basement. Larry is survived by one sister Bertha Clark of Columbia, TN; Sons: Ronnie (Marilyn) Scroggins of Bartlett, TN, and Roger Scroggins of Columbia, TN; Daughter Brenda (Bennie) Haddock of Dyersburg, TN; 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild. Larry is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Nellie Scroggins, sisters Lois Johnson, Evelyn Patterson, Lucille Tucker, and brothers Oscar Scroggins, Elmer Scroggins, Edward Scroggins, L.M. Scroggins, Dean Scroggins, and James Nolen Scroggins. Services for Larry will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives during visitation on Thursday August 23, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Pallbearers will be his Grandsons and other relatives. A special Thank you to the Caregivers at the Alzheimer’s Unit at Life Care Center of Columbia.
