Obituary of Kevin Atkins CARTHAGE – Kevin M. Atkins, 55, formerly of Carthage, died on Saturday, August 11, 2018 after being involved in a motor vehicle accident in Orlando, Florida. Kevin was born in Carthage, the son of Stanley C. Atkins & Edith Arlene (O’Dett) Atkins. He attended Carthage Central School for some time, but graduated in Memphis, Tennessee in 1981. Kevin spent his adult life as an amazing heavy equipment operator which started with his father’s company, Sarge Backhoe in Memphis, TN. He was previously employed with Black Horse Construction Group, as well as Champion Sand & Gravel. He was currently employed by SGL Construction. He had been living and working in Florida for a short time. Kevin is survived by his mother, Edith Arlene Atkins of Carthage; a brother, Stanley (Debbie) Atkins of Carthage; two nieces, Christina Atkins of Carthage; Jennifer (Christopher) Johnsen of Carthage; a nephew, Stanley (Annia) Atkins of Antwerp; three great nephews, Ethan, Titan, and Marcus; as well as two great nieces, Makenzie and Makayla. Kevin was known as “Uncle Maniac” to all of his nieces and nephews. Arrangements are entrusted to Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State Street, Carthage, NY 13601.
