Obituary for Kenneth E. Muncy Bluefield, WV- Kenneth Eugene Muncy, 82, died Saturday August 11, 2018 at his home in Bluefield, WV. Kenneth served his country in the Air Force from 1955-1959, and was well known as an educator in the Bluefield Schools; serving at Bluefield High, Fairview Junior High, Central Junior High, and Bluefield Junior High. He took early retirement in August 1989. He and his family then moved to Port Charlotte, Florida where he served as assistant principal in Arcadia, FL until returning to this area in 1994. He then served as principal of Bland and Rocky Gap Elementary Schools until his retirement in 2000. Kenneth was preceded in death by a son, Alan Blake; mother, Gertrude Lockhart Muncy; father, Squire Washington Muncy; and sister, Rae Muncy Sturges. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Patricia Gibson Muncy; sons, Shannon Patrick and wife Mary of Greensboro, NC, and Shea Preston and wife Traci of Narrows, VA; three grandchildren, Erica of Narrows, and Ethan and Evan of Greensboro; sister, Mildred Hartsock; nieces Sparkle Billings of Salem, VA, Robbi Hartsock of Catonsville, MD; and nephews Ronald Sturges of Alexandria, VA and Donald Sturges of Tazewell, VA. Kenneth was a member of Edgemont Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Tuesday August 14, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 7:45 p.m. with Pastor Hugh Cole and Rev. Tony Reed officiating.
