OBITUARY Jose “Joe” Montez May 4, 1956 – August 25, 2018 Joe Montez 62, of La Porte, TX, passed away August 25, 2018. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 4, 1956 to Mary and Simon Montez. He spent his early childhood in Detroit and south Texas before moving to the Houston area and eventually settling in La Porte, TX. “Papa” was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was married to Dalia Montez for 40 years. Joe worked at Goodyear Chemical Plant in Houston, TX for 31 years. He enjoyed spending his time with his family and watching his Houston sports teams. He bravely and gracefully faced seemingly endless medical challenges and complications following a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in May of 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Simon Montez, brother Robert and sister Modesta. He is survived by wife Dalia Montez, three daughters Jessica and husband Larry, Joann and husband Jimmy, and Joyce and Husband John, seven grandchildren John Boy, Jessica, Janet, Larissa, Jamie, Jenna, and Jillian, brothers Simon, Frank and wife Chayo, Sisters Helen, Lydia, Susan, and Irma and husband Gilbert. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with the Rosary recited at 6:00pm at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. Joe’s Celebration of Life will follow on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 10:00am in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Rite of Committal, Grand View Memorial Park.
