John J Soroka March 26 1935 August 21 2018 (age 83)

At age 83, John passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a longtime resident of Garfield Heights, Ohio and graduated from Garfield High School in 1953. He was an excellent student, played football, wrestled and was treasurer of his senior class. He graduated from Ohio State in 1957 and then received a Master’s Degree from the University of Akron. He furthered his education with a PhD from the University of Michigan. He had a long career in teaching both in high schools and colleges primarily involved with the sciences, planetariums and NASA, providing a unique approach to teaching science to students across the USA. John was the beloved son of the late John and Anne Soroka; brother of Tom Soroka (Betty) and the late Lt. Col. Ron Soroka (the late Joanna); uncle to Jeff, Mark and Gregg Soroka (Amy) and great uncle to Riley, Addison and Siena. He also leaves behind many students with a special understanding of the sciences. Service and interment with his parents in Mount St. Macrina Cemetery, in Uniontown, PA, will be private.
