She regularly helped with planning her annual class reunion for many years. Arlene especially loved to over-indulge her many nieces and nephews and enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling. She and her husband lived in Sri Lanka for several years assisting with establishing a Levi’s Manufacturing Plant in that country where she also learned to love the beautiful locale, orchids growing on trees in the courtyard, and geckos on the ceilings. She fondly recalled the kind hearts of the local people and was deeply saddened by the civil war that occurred soon after their departure. She enjoyed reading-especially history, music, going to concerts, impromptu picnics, staying up late to play games, holidays and all family occasions. She frequently made “popcorn” visits to family and friends by popping in and popping out just to let them know how much she loved them. Love never fails. Mrs. Johnson will be sent for cremation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
