Obituary for Jerry Main Jerry Lee Main, 63, of Independence, Iowa died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, IA. Jerry was born on June 21, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Gerald W. and Gladys R. (Hilmer) Main. He grew up in Rowley, IA, and was a 1974 graduate of Jefferson High School, Independence, IA. Jerry worked for many years repairing motorcycles and worked for his good friend Mike Benards farm with chores. He often went on many motorcycle rides with friends, and also enjoyed his time working on grain elevators in Nebraska, and working as a carpenter at the Mental Health Institute in Independence, Iowa. He was a Jack of all trades and those close to him knew him to be kind hearted. It was not an uncommon sight to see him chasing after a yard full of kids. He is survived by his siblings; Janice Bradley, Jesup, Iowa, Robert (Marlene) Main, Newton, Iowa, Charles (Debbie) Main, Clarkesville, Tennessee, his cousins; Laurie Whightsil, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tom Main, Lansing, Michigan, and two nieces; Jodi Close and Rhona Ogden. He is proceeded in death by his parents Gerald and Gladys (Hilmer) Main, his sisters; Mary Hanson, Ruth Hanson, a nephew Gary Bradley, two nieces; Becky and Nancy, and his cousin Gordon A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
