James Caleb Hammond 1939 2018

Obituary for James Hammond James C. Hammond passed away peacefully in his sleep August 23rd, 2018. Everyone who had a chance to know him will miss him deeply. He was born February 8th, 1939 to the late Zealand and Biddie Hammond. He was also preceded in death by his brother Noble, wife Juanita and daughter Robin. Surviving him are his sons Steve and Scott (Lindsey). His two brothers Joe and Olen and sister Pansea Lee. Dad also leaves behind seven grandchildren and one great grandchild ranging of ages 1 to 28. Mr. Hammond was a retired teamster, a loving father and all-around good friend to all who knew him. He was also an avid jeep enthusiast who loved to attend car shows. His favorite being the annual Doo Wop Rod and Run Show. Dad leaves us all with a lot of valuable life lessons, that can be best summed up by “Don’t worry. Be Happy”. There will be a graveside service open to all Sunday, September 2nd at 11am at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens. Following the service, we will have a celebration of a life well lived at the Charleston Moose from 2pm to 4pm. The family also wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the caring people at the Hubbard Hospice House.
