Obituary of Harice Sawyer Harice Sawyer, 89, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mr. Sawyer, son of Eli and Mandy (Scott) Sawyer, was born July 31, 1929, in Centerville, Tennessee. He had been a self-employed farmer and was partial to raising pigs with his wife, Cleola. Mr. Sawyer enjoyed hunting, camping with his family, his annual Labor Day fish fry and watching all his grandkids swim in the river. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. On January 21, 1950, he was married to Cleola Evans in Piggott, Arkansas, and she survives. Also surviving are 5 children: Linda (Mike) Rawlings of Risco, Missouri; Shirley (Bill) Smith of Dyersburg, Tennessee; David (Emma) Sawyer of Sikeston, Missouri; Judy Tipton of Malden; and Shelia (Mike) Day of Doniphan; and 4 sisters, Grace Sawyer of Maryland, Marie Hensley of West Plains, Missouri, Mary Lou Wilson of Risco and Betty Gwaltney of Halls, Tennessee. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents; 2 children, Bob Sawyer and Theresa Sawyer; 1 brother, Grady Sawyer; 1 grandson, Brian Day; and a son-in-law, Jerry Tipton. Visitation will be held Saturday evening, August 25, 2018, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
