OBITUARY George A. McClure II October 12, 1942 – August 2, 2018 George A. McClure II passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family on August 2, 2018. He was born in Monroe, MI on October 12, 1942 to George Alfred I and Thelma (Dieterle) McClure. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bonnie Schrauben. He is also survived by daughters, Tracy (Paul) Norris of Flowery Branch, GA; Amy (Gary Szpotek) of Clinton Township; son, Chris (Jessica) McClure of DeWitt; grandchildren, Connor and Cole Norris; Nikolas and Brendan Szpotek; Jackson and Lillian McClure; sisters, Sondra Shooter and Maureen (Don) Call; brothers, Kenneth (Debra) and Michael McClure; mother-in-law, Mae Lehman; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Edwin Schrauben. George had a 50-year career as a respiratory therapist, manager and business owner. In 1983, he started and successfully managed McClure Respiratory Home Care for over 20 years. He enjoyed caring for and making a positive impact on every patient he helped. George was a kind-hearted, soft-spoken, generous man who loved his family, a good round of golf, and University of Michigan athletics (Go Blue!). George always enjoyed the company of cherished friends, a good happy hour, and “running errands.” George was confirmed at St. Mary’s Church in Williamston this past year, where he found peace and comfort in his faith. Visitation will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamston at 10:00am on Friday, August 10, 2018. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00am to celebrate George’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George’s name to American Cancer Society or to St. Mary’s School.
