Francis X Byrnes 1932 2018

Obituary for Francis Byrnes Francis (Frank) X. Byrnes 86 of Stroudsburg, Pa. died on Sunday Aug. 19, 2018 in the Good Samaritan Hospital West Islip, New York. He was the widower of Mary (Cohron) Byrnes. Born in New York City, N.Y. he was the son of Michael and Edna (Gould) Byrnes. Frank was a resident of the Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg areas for the past 25 years. He worked as a safety inspector for the Con-Edison Co. of New York City for 43 years retiring in 1993.He was a former member of St. John’s Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, Pa. and he was a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus Fr. Kraft Council. Frank was also a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Frank is survived by 2 sons: Patrick Byrnes of Massapequa, New York and Peter Schiefer of Somerville, S.C., 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday Aug. 23, 2018 at 10:00am from St. Matthews Catholic Church 78 Ridgeway St. E. Stroudsburg, Pa. with Fr. Jerry Shantillo as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Mountain Laurel Mausoleum at Laurelwood Cemetery Stroudsburg, Pa. The Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th.St.Stroudsburg, Pa. is in charge of the arrangements.
