Ethelyn Ames Fagan was called to meet her Maker the evening of 25 August at Christwood Retirement Center in Covington. She passed away quietly and peacefully. Ethelyn was born in Hattiesburg, MS on 3 Dec 1941 to John Turner Ames and Zuline Morris Ames. Her brothers were John and Morris. She graduated from Hattiesburg HS where she was active in the social clubs ICH and Dusty. After graduation, she went to Ole Miss where she enthusiastically participated in her sorority Tri Delta. Upon… Read More » graduation in 1964, she married 2nd Lt Fred T Fagan, USMC on 20 June. Thereafter, she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, homemaker, English tutor and schoolteacher all over the United States for 26 years. Upon relocating to South Louisiana to be near their elderly mothers, Ethelyn and Fred served as long time elders at New Covenant Presbyterian Church; Ethelyn served for many years as the clerk of the session. She loved life and loved people, and she personified The Golden Rule. She made the life of others better and was favorably influenced by all with whom she came into contact. Ethelyn made a difference in the lives of many and she will be greatly missed.
