Elain Carter Houston, 63, of Houston passed away on July 27, 2018. Carter, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on November 16, 1954 in Anniston, Alabama to Charles Floyd and Ann Carter (Hayes) Gidley. She married Thomas Brent Houston on January 14, 1978 in Atlanta, Georgia. They moved to Texas in 1981 and she fell in love with this great state and became a Texan by choice. Carter enjoyed people watching, reading, shopping, and long walks on the beach. She had an angel collection and each one had precious meaning to her. She was also an avid NRA supporter. She had a heart for the elderly and she enjoyed her volunteer time and visiting with them and letting them tell their story. Time spent talking and laughing with her extended family and friends was important to her. She dearly loved her precious little ones, her dog Sadie and her cat Yoda. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Brent Houston on September 13, 2014, her parents and her dear friend Rick Robben. Left to treasure her memory are her cousin: William David Allison; step daughter: Donna Long; nephew: Jim Houston and wife Brenda; sister in law: Emma Houston; long time family friends: Terry and Annette Chesnutt; treasured friends: Sheri Kovach, Sheila Orrenmaa, Barbara Bradford and Gary Markel; and many other friends and coworkers.
