Douglas Passino, 81 of Afton passed away on August 21, 2018 surrounded by his family. Douglas was born on November 13, 1936 in Cheboygan, MI the son of Claude Passino and Bernice Vieau. He grew up in Afton and attended school at Inland Lakes High School in Indian River. On October 26, 1974, he married Marsha Crawford at the Cross in the Woods Catholic Church. He proudly served our country in the US Army for two years. Douglas enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, farming, and playing softball. He was a very civic minded person, serving as the longest running president of the Afton Community Club, 15+ years at PIE&G, 35+ years at Farm Services, as well as the Walker Township Board. Douglas was a kind hearted man who loved animals and his neighbors as well. Douglas is survived by his wife Marsha Passino, children Brent (Lisa) Passino and Alison (Gabe Lopez) Passino, grandson Kyle Passino, siblings Donald (Evelyn) Passino and Joyce Hungerford, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Bernice Passino, and siblings Gene, John, Jerry, Robert, Elaine, and Claude. Services for Douglas will be held on Saturday, August 25 at the Indian River United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm, service at 2 pm. There will be a luncheon to follow and burial will take place at the St. Monica’s Cemetery in Afton after the luncheon.
