Obituary for Dorothy Katherine Moore Dorothy Katherine Moore, 91, of Grand Island passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Service and celebration of Dorothy’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Dorothy was born October 26, 1926, at rural Pinetown, NC, the daughter of William and Linda (Waters) Wallace. She grew up in Pinetown and graduated from high school in Bath, NC. On August 16, 1945, Dorothy was united in marriage to Merle Moore. Following their marriage, they lived in Alma, Grand Island, and Yorktown, VA, before returning to Grand Island. Always the gracious southern lady, Dorothy had true grit and determination. Providing a loving home for her family was all important. She was a member of First Baptist Church and several church circles. As a life member of Alpha Sigma Sorority, their philanthropic works were very important to her. She was also a member of the YWCA and in later years, the Grand Generation Center. Dorothy also enjoyed her annual trips back home to North Carolina to see family. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Donna (Craig) Scherzberg of Papillion and Barbara (Loren) Lewandowski of Grand Island; grandchildren, Angela (Brian) Sivertson, Emily (Marcus) Darragh, Jamie (Daniel) Cutler, Dustin (Nicole) Lewandowski, and Kiel Lewandowski (Danielle Juneau); twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle, in May of 1991; parents; three brothers and a sister.
