Doris C Papp 2018

Doris C Papp went to her Heavenly reward last weekend, with her family by her side. One of 9 children and born during the Great Depression, she was the last surviving child. She grew up in West Virginia and moved to New Jersey later in her life. She first worked at Westinghouse in Edison NJ where she met Frank Papp who she would later marry and together they would have 2 daughters. She also worked at AT&T on Hoes Lane and Hadley Road for years before going to work for Sears & Roebuck in New Brunswick NJ, selling maintenance agreements for appliance purchases. After ending her career at Sears, retirement didn’t sit well with her energetic spirit and she went to work for the newly opened BJs Wholesale Club in Edison NJ. She worked doing product demos, selling memberships and towards the end of her 21 year career at BJs, she was the front door greeter. Doris was an extraordinary person. She loved life and loved people. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was outgoing and chatty and people naturally gravitated towards her sunny personality. She was the life of the party. She was always smiling. She walked miles daily, around her beloved Metuchen. She was a tiny, red headed force of nature who loved ice cream and chocolate and never met a jelly bean she didn’t like! Her family will always be grateful for the kindness and generosity shown to her and our family by BJs Corporate office and the greatest BJs club ever, Edison NJ. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the competence and compassion shown by the nurses, aides, therapy, dietary and activity staffs at Neshaminy Manor. We also thank the Laundry, Housekeeping and Maintenance staff at Neshaminy Manor for always keeping her looking great and keeping her final “earthly” home functional and clean. We can never thank enough the doctors, nurses and aides at Doylestown Hospital for their excellent care & competent medical practices. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure our mothers comfort in her final days, laughing with and loving our mother as if their own. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Frank; and her 6 brothers and 2 sisters, Mary Slye of North Brunswick and Edith Betzler of Milltown. In addition to many friends, she leaves behind her daughter Veronica and husband Paul of Doylestown PA; her daughter Elizabeth of Metuchen and her 3 beloved grandchildren: Isabella, Sophie and Sheldon the pug. Many cherished nieces and nephews also remain. A Memorial Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 10 am to 12 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 270 Woodbridge Ave, Metuchen with a Funeral Service at 12 pm. Interment will follow in the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church, 270 Woodbridge Ave, PO Box 385, Metuchen NJ 08840.
