Obituary for Dolores M. Badura Dolores M. Badura, 78, of Loup City, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Bryan Medial Center East in Lincoln. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a 7 p.m. vigil service and sodality rosary. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is assisting the family. Dolores was born on May 30, 1939, at Loup City, the daughter of Adolph E. and Anna H. (Waskowiak) Markvicka. She grew up in Farwell where she received her early education. In 1955, she moved to Loup City, where she graduated from Loup City High School in 1956. Following graduation she taught at a country school. She was united in marriage to Murl J. Badura on Sept. 18, 1958, at Loup City. The couple lived their entire married life in Loup City. For approximately 20 years she taught country school, pursuing her teaching certification early in her tenure. After leaving her teaching position she focused her time on her family and an in-home daycare, where she provided care for numerous children of local residents. She did this for over 20 years until she transitioned into retirement as her health became limited. She and Murl had ten children. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1997, after 39 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women and Rosary Sodality. With her many children she was also very active with the Red Raider Booster Club She enjoyed cooking, baking, caring for others, playing BINGO and collecting rooster chicken figurines. She is survived by her loving children, Loren Badura of Loup City, Janelle Badura and Johnny Schooley of Des Moines, IA, Karlynn and Todd Quam of Las Vegas, NV, Mark and Janietta Badura of Waterloo, IA, John and Corrie Badura of Loup City, James Badura of Omaha, Sherri Badura and Johnnie Mason of Loup City, Gary “Cable” Badura of Loup City, and Paul and Amy Badura of Omaha; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert “Bob” and Terry Markvicka of Grand Island; and sister-in-law, Renae Markvicka of Ord; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Murl, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Amy Jo Gatewood; grandsons, Anthony Badura and Alex Evans; son-in-law, Rod Beck; brother, Alvin Markvicka; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Aldean Markvicka.
