OBITUARY David Martin Janik December 27, 1975 – July 26, 2018 David Martin Janik, 42, of St. Petersburg, Florida peacefully passed away on July 26, 2018. He was born in Portsmouth New Hampshire in December 1975 to Ann and Louis Janik. David spent most of his life in Florida. He was a 1994 graduate of Bishop Kenny High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences at the University of North Florida. Dave moved to the Tampa-St. Petersburg area where he settled down with his family while working as a food services sales representative. Dave was a proud father and loved spending time with his family and helping his community. He lived his life to the fullest. He loved to be outdoors and was never happier then when he could play with his daughter at the park, fish for flounder or play a round of golf with friends and family. An avid baseball player and fan, David lettered in baseball as a pitcher on the Bishop Kenny varsity baseball team and energetically cheered for the Cincinnati Reds and Tampa Bay Rays. He had an amazing sense of humor and the most kind and compassionate heart. He was the tower of strength for his family, and at 6’4”, his daughter dubbed him “Big Tree.” David and his family were active members of Cathedral of St. Jude in St. Petersburg. He enjoyed volunteering at the Cathedral Catholic School, in the “All Pro Dad’s club”, during the parish festival and assisting in coaching the parish school baseball team. This gentle giant will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Janik.
