David Lee Shafer 1939 2018

Obituary for David Shafer David Lee Shafer, Sr., 78, of Leesburg passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018. He was born September 30, 1939 in Easton, PA. David retired after 28 years as a Police Sargeant for Pompton Lakes Police Dept. in New Jersey. He retired in 2000 and moved to PA from New Jersey. He then moved to Leesburg in 2002 from PA. He enjoyed vegetable gardening at P.E.A.R. Park, in his younger years he played guitar and sang with his band. David was also a Veteran of the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Joan, 36 years of marriage; 5 children, David Jr. (Susan) of NJ; Pamela Shafer, MI; Valeri Shafer, MI; Deborah (Steven) Haagsma, Ontario, Canada; Raymond (Lisa) of NJ; 2 stepchildren, Christopher Durgin of NC; Sheralee Dekker of FL; 10 grandchildren, Aaron (Amanda), Brittany, Nicholas (Rayna), Drew, Grant, Ryan, Kyle, Luke, Micah, Jonathan; great granddaughter, McKenzie; brother, Larry (Deena) Shafer of NJ. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard and his parents. Memorial will be held at a later date at The Plantation at Leesburg and inurnment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
