Our dear father, son and brother, Brian died on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 9:07PM at the age of 46. He went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. Brian died peacefully at Thomas Jefferson Hospital. His life was beautiful. He was surrounded by his family and friends for days leading up to his passing. Brian was a loving father to his three children: Cameron, Carley and Chase. One of the greatest dads we know, playing with his children, teaching them, loving them and making each day fun! Brian was an outstanding citizen in our community earning the High Honor of Eagle Scout and later, as an adult would earn the High Honor of Wood Badge. He was involved with Boy Scouts his whole life and was a great leader and mentor to other men and sons in the troops he served, Troop 414 at Hope Lutheran Church and Troop 56 at First Presbyterian Church. We are blessed. Brian also served his church community his whole life and ultimately led as Council President at Hope Lutheran Church. He loved all of creation. Brian’s life journey has brought all of us to three churches in the community that have significantly impacted him and his personal walk with Jesus. Hope Lutheran Church, where we attended Worship Service and Sunday School growing up, Life Community Church where he was Baptized in the Bohemia River with his family by his side, and First Presbyterian Church where Brian would take on great leadership in the Boy Scout community as Scoutmaster for Troop 56. A testimony to his servant leadership. Brian was born and raised in Delaware. He attended the University of Delaware and received both his Bachelor of Science Degree and Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He was always a creative thinker, involved all people in his solutions, always had grand ideas that included fun! Brian is survived by his loving parents, David and Marjorie Spaeth; his three beautiful children, Cameron, Carley and Chase, and their mama, Heather Spaeth; his two beautiful sisters and their husbands, Janine and Vincent Borrelli, Jeanette and David Compton; his nieces and nephews, Alexa and Tim, Harrison and Jessica, Adrienne, Jonathan, Garrett and Evan; and his two great nephews, Jon and Jaxon. Also surviving are his many aunts, uncles and dear cousins; as well as the extended family across Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania. We thank Jesus for our extended family and friends who helped us, loved us, and supported us during this time of healing. We thank Jesus for the many church families and scout troops that have prayed and supported us during Brian’s fight with cancer. We thank Jesus for the countless medical professionals that have cared for Brian so beautifully. Your love and support reach us so deeply that words cannot express our thankfulness to all of you. We are all one body in Christ, each one of us, vital to God’s beautiful plan. Our service to celebrate Brian’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 292 W. Main Street, Newark, Delaware 19711 on Saturday, September 1. Visitation will be held from 9:00-9:45AM, with services at 10:00AM. Our family and friends luncheon will immediately follow in the Memorial Hall at First Presbyterian Church.
