Daryl Sonny Robertson January 5 1936 July 31 2018 (age 82)

Daryl (Sonny) Robertson, peacefully passed away on July 31, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Sonny was born in Cripple Creek, Colorado to Daryl Berdine Robertson and Edna Ann Sicklebower on January 5, 1936. He grew up in Bingham Canyon, Utah and graduated from Bingham High School in 1954, where he was a part of several State Championship teams. Sonny was drafted out of high school by the Milwaukee Braves, spent several years in the Minor Leagues and was traded to the Chicago Cubs, where he played in the Major Leagues. He was inducted into the Utah Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in July of 1997. Sonny worked for the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Department and retired as a Lieutenant after 30 years of service. Sonny was married to Ann Marie Christie, his high school sweetheart, until her passing on March 9, 2009. Grandpa Sonny is survived by his daughter, Tammy and her husband Kevin Hansen, daughter, Vicky Maciel, son, William (Bill) Robertson and his wife Melissa; grandchildren, Zachary Hansen (Rachele), Breanna McDermott (Thomas), Tasha Calder, Nicole Coulter (Joel), Desiderio Maciel, Emilio Maciel, Madelyn Robertson, Hanna Chidester (McKay), Reggie Jane Robertson; great grandchildren, Makena, Londyn, Paityn, Beckett, Hawx and Bridger; brother, Joseph (Joe) Robertson (Marily). Sonny was able to donate his eyes for research in the fight against Macular Degeneration. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah.
