Crystal Hamby Ritchie, 61, a longtime resident of the Vernonia community, died Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018 of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in Vernonia. CRYSTAL HAMBY RITCHIE was born May 22, 1957 in Angeles, Pampanga, the Philippines, the daughter of Billy J. Hamby and Betty (DuBois) Hamby. She was raised and received her education in Eugene, Oregon, graduating from North Eugene High School in 1975. She worked as an accountant and IT person for the A.A.R.P. Pharmacy Service for 13 years, and then as a manufacturing technician at Intel Corporation. Later in her career she returned to school, working toward a degree in electrical engineering. She then chose to become a caregiver for her mother and then her husband. She had many interests including; visiting the Oregon Coast, camping, various hobbies, and treasure hunting at resale shops and garage sales. She loved doing thoughtful things for people, sharing corny jokes, and caring for her pets. Crystal was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Betty Hamby. She is survived by her husband, Nathan Gribner, of Vernonia, Oregon; her daughter and son-in-law, Camrin “Camie” and Brandon Eyrrick, of Vernonia, Oregon; her son and fiancée, Michael “Mikey” Ritchie and Michelle Dodd of Beaverton, Oregon; her brother, Jeffrey Hamby, of Eugene, Oregon; her sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Dan Balek, of Springfield, Oregon; and her sister, Alicia Hamby, of Estacada, Oregon. Crystal is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Jacob Orion Eyrrick; Kaitlyn Nicole Eyrrick; Andrea Marie Ritchie; Evan Michael Allen Ritchie; Caiden Ray Ritchie; Atlantis Michelle Froom; Roma Mae Froom and Madisyn Lyn Froom; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests that remembrances may be made as contributions to the Wauna Federal Credit Union Account, “Donations Crystal Ritchie and Nathan Gribner” to help offset expenses incurred from the accident.
