Cartha Creson Hill, age 93, of the Pleasant Gardens Community, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2018 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born November 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Hunter Creson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Briscoe Hill; and eight siblings. A member of Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church, Cartha enjoyed working with flowers, quilting and watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games. Cartha loved sitting with friends and family on her porch while enjoying fellowship and stories of life. Cartha is survived by one son, Donald Hill (June E.); three grandchildren, Joseph Hill, Donna Pyatt, Mark Hill; four great grandchildren, Emma Pyatt, Brady Pyatt, Claire Hill and Lilah Hill; and one sister, Jean Holloway. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Josh Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Hill’s memory are asked to consider a charity of one’s choice.
