OBITUARY Carroll “Cal” Haley January 4, 1930 – August 1, 2018 Mr. Carroll “Cal” Merle Haley, age 88, passed away on August 1, 2018. Cal was born on January 4, 1930 in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine to Daniel and Hazel (Scribner) Haley. He graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1948, where he was named as “Most Valuable Player “for his football team. Cal enlisted in the United States Army in 1952, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He served three tours of duty in Germany, one in Netherlands, and two in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1973, settling in Security, Colorado, and went to work for the city of Colorado Springs as a Utilities Service Technician. An avid fisherman, Cal fished wherever his travels took him around the world. He also loved to bowl and play pool. Cal was a volunteer at the Fountain Valley Senior Center, teaching classes in pool, coordination pool tournaments, supervising flu shot clinics, and helping with talent shows and many other activities. Mr. Haley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irmgard Haley, three sisters, Phyllis Crommett, Glenice Snyder, and Bea Buhre, and his very special friend Mabel Shoemaker. He is survived by his brother Stanley Haley; two sons, Thomas and Peter; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; his special friend Claire Cumella; and his many friends at the Inn at Garden Plaza and the Fountain Valley Senior Center. Funeral services will be held at Dove Witt Funeral Home on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 1pm. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cal’s name to the Fountain Valley Senior Center.
