Obituary for Allen D. Briggs Allen D. Briggs, age 78, of Royal Oak, passed away August 21, 2018. Allen is survived by his loving girlfriend, Gail Gordon. He was the loving father of Jamie (the late Jeff) Cox and Kirk (Jennifer) Briggs. Proud grandfather of Greg (Brittney), Stephanie, Felicia, Jeremy, Rachelle (deceased), John, Kirk Jr., Kori (Christopher), Jack, Lulu, and Kimberly. Great-grandfather of Zachary, Dylan, Cayden, and Luke. Brother of Danny, Bill, and Noel. Predeceased by his parents, Lyle and Mildred Briggs, and his siblings, Patty, Toddy, Benny, and Mike. Allen was a proud Army veteran and lifetime member of VFW Post 1669 in Royal Oak. He was also retired from General Motors. In his spare time, Allen loved to golf and was a member of Royal Oak Golf Club, which he visited daily for many years. He particularly enjoyed spending winters down in Florida, especially in Port Charlotte, where he loved to fish from the pier. He also loved eating out for breakfast, just about every day. Visitation will take place Sunday, August 26, 3 – 7 p.m., and Monday, August 27, 10 a.m. until time of funeral service, 11 a.m., at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd., Royal Oak (4 blks E. of Woodward). Burial, with military honors, will take place at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak.
