Alice Blakeman November 18 1932 August 18 2018 (age 85)

Alice Blakeman, 85, of Illiopolis, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her residence. Alice was born on November 18, 1932, the daughter of Floyd and Evalena (Wilson) Meister. She married Leslie Blakeman on December 2, 1950; he preceded her in death in 2007. She worked for 30 years for Sangamon County Senior Services of Illiopolis. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Illiopolis Christian Church, and pinochle card club. She enjoyed cooking, going to sporting events, fishing, and vacationing in Minnesota. Alice was preceded in death by her husband; and one granddaughter, Charity Blakeman. She is survived by six children, Nancy (Edward) Weigler, Phil (Kathie) Blakeman, Susie (Greg) Drabing, Janis (Jon) Rhodes, Teresa (Donald) Baumhardt, and Todd (companion Brooke Almdale); fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward and James Meister; three sisters, Wanda Tendich, Carol Brock, and Mary Roher. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 22, 2018 at Illiopolis Christian Church. There will be an additional visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the church with Reverend Melissa Ebken officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Bank Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illiopolis Christian Church kitchen fund.
