HOLYOKE Adele Catherine (Powtak) Rybski, age 92, of Holyoke, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Wojciech and Mary (Zabik) Powtak and was educated in the Holyoke schools. Adele was a longtime cafeteria worker in the Holyoke Public Schools, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening and bingo. Adele was a communicant of Mater Dolorosa Church for most of her life, and belonged to the Saint Ann’s Society. She was the widow of Walter Rybski who died in 2007. Adele is survived by three children: Arlene B. Obara and husband Theodore of Easthampton, Stephen J. Rybski and wife Catherine of Holyoke, and Karen A. Lees and husband Philip of Westfield; five grandchildren: Rachel Obara, Stephanie Guyette, Nicole Crigger, Alyson Finnerty, and Patricia Crigger; four great grandchildren: Tyler, Jordan, Abbygail and Gabriella; and a special nephew, Father Arnold Zebrowski. Adele was the last surviving member of a family of eight. All services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage St, Springfield, MA 01104 or a charity of one’s choice.
