Obituary of William Burgess Memorial services for William Gale ‘Bill’ Burgess, 76, of Overton will be at 4:00 pm, Saturday, June 9, 2018 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 401 East Main St, Kilgore, TX 75662, with Reverend Ben Bagley officiating. Mr. Burgess passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his residence in Overton. He was born February 1, 1942 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Leo William and Joy Hope Allen Burgess. He was a Catholic and attended Catholic schools. He served in the US Army for 6 1/2 years and married Glenda Karen Pool June 24, 1995 in Gladewater. He retired from Eastman Kodak in Longview in 2002, where he had worked as a machine operator. He owned and operated the Overton Treasure Chest for several years and had served as a volunteer fireman for Gregg County. He loved golf, fishing, bowling, playing cards, shuffleboard and all sports. He was a nascar fan and loved people and was a friend to everyone. Besides his parents, Mr. Burgess was also preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Allen Moore. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Glenda Burgess of Overton; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Shawn Burgess of Ohio, Jimmy and Shanna Burgess of Kilgore, J.D. Joiner of Mansfield, Billy Bob Joiner of Houston, Casey Joe and Melissa Joiner of Lake Tawakoni; a daughter, Sherry Boley of Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence G. and Patsy Burgess of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Linda Lott of Overton and Brenda Chew of Monahans; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Les and Barbara Pool of Onalaska; seven grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
