Wilbur Royce Strickland, 86, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018. He was born October 30, 1931 in Wake County to the late James Everett Strickland and Hersie Kelly Strickland. He graduated as Senior Class President from Wendell High School in 1950. Wilbur honorably served his country in the US Army. While at Fort Chaffee he married Zella Hill of Mena, AR in 1955. Wilbur was known far and wide for his ability to paint and hang wallpaper, he worked with his brothers, Roderick, O.K. and Cecil. As long as his health permitted he was a devoted member of Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 16657 Buffalo Road, Wendell, NC 27591. Surviving: wife of 62 years, Zella Hill Strickland; brothers: O.K. and Leamon Strickland both of Wendell; a host of special nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by sisters: Elsie S. Finch and Naomi Strickland; brothers: Roderick, Cecil and Raymond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 16657 Buffalo Rd, Wendell, NC 27591 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by L.
