Obituary of Von Hix Von G. Hix, 87, of Clinton, Missouri, died early Sunday morning, June 17, 2018, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton. He was born October 29, 1930, in Climax Springs, Mo., the son of John Henry Hix and Odessa Iva (Schoonover) Hix. On February 11, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo., he married Wilma Dorraine Doyle and she survives of the home in Clinton. Von served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an electronics technician most of his life. He started his career at Ballard’s in Clinton and then worked for Western Electric in Lee’s Summit for 29 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Clinton, where he served as a Deacon. He was a founding member of the Bluegrass Missourians band and played for 13 consecutive years at Silver Dollar City. He was a Ham radio operator and a weather spotter. He was a volunteer with Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief. He was a member of the Clinton VFW Post #1894 and served on the Honor Guard. He loved the outdoors and spent time hunting, fishing, and always grew a large garden. He always found time to attend his grandchildren’s various activities. In addition to his wife, Wilma, survivors include 2 sons, David Hix (Carol) of Harrisonville, Mo.; and Paul Hix (Penny) of Amoret, Mo.; 7 grandchildren, Emily Hix, Kyle Hix, Keegan Hix, Heather Troyer Murray, Vanessa Troyer, Megan Troyer, and Cameron Hook; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler Troyer, Kaden Murray and Ariyana Young; 2 brothers, Hoyt Hix (Sammie) of Independence, Mo., and Ronnie Hix of Windsor, Mo.; 3 sisters, Virgie Harms of Windsor, Mo., Patsy Cox (Bill) of Leeton, Mo., and Kay Cox (Gerald) of Leeton, Mo.; 2 brothers-in-law, Ron White of Worthington, Minnesota, and Claire Reed of Buffalo, Mo., 2 sisters-in-law, Gwen Hix of Warrensburg, Mo., and Patty Hix of Coulee Dam, Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Keith Hix, Dale Hix, Dwight Hix, and Stanley Hix; and 3 sisters, Phyllis Deardeuff, Shirley Reed and Marilyn White. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Randy Shipman officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home and also before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief and contributions may be made in care of the funeral home.
