Virginia Thompson Smith age 97 of Kingsport, TN and formerly of Lee County, VA was born Saturday, April 30, 1921 in Pennington Gap, VA and passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at her daughters home in Kingsport, TN. She had been a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith, a former member of Admant Baptist Church. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Smith, parents Charles and Sarah “Lady” Thompson, five brothers and two sisters. Virginia is survived by two daughters Brenda Kennedy of Kingsport, TN, Linda Sheets and husband, Darrell of Kingsport, TN, two grandchildren Dean Kennedy and wife, Beth of Vincent, OH, Kristen Kennedy, Jeremy Johnson of Richlands, VA and four great-grandchildren, Reason, Sawyer, Waylon and Wyatt. Visitation will be from 12:00 until 1:00 PM Friday. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA with Dr. Roger White and wife, Catherine of Alabama Officiating.
