Virginia Nellor Virginia Lee Nellor, 92, of Burlington, died at 1:15 PM Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant. Born June 16, 1925, in Des Moines, she was the daughter of Carl Edwin and Dorothy Anna Bertrem Peterson. On March 30, 1947, she married Alfred Charles Nellor in Des Moines. Virginia worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 5 years, and for the Burlington Community High School for 17 years. She graduated from East High in 1943. She was a Charter Member of the Mickey Mouse Club and a Girl Scout leader. She belonged to a bridge club, loved to travel and bring treats and gifts for her family, made the best root beer floats and always had mints and candy for the kids. She was a seamstress and enjoyed making things for her grandchildren. She always had curly hair. Most of all she enjoyed seeing her family and grandchildren at family reunions. Survivors include husband; one son, Dennis (Kathy) Nellor of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Dorene (Roy) Jennings of Austin, TX, and Debora (Eric) Edmunds of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one half-sister, Joyce Cox of Des Moines; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Betty Shivers; her Aunt Lucile Haines who was like a dear sister; and one half sister, Joanne. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory. The memorial service for Mrs. Nellor will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Stan Smelser officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Fisher House Foundation and Players Workshop.
