Obituary for Vance K. Kohler Vance Kenneth Kohler, 98, of Camp Hill, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was born on April 17, 1920 in Fairview Township, York County to the late Kathryn Harro. Vance was born in a log house in Fairview Township, York County, PA and attended a one room schoolhouse. In high school, Vance was tied as the top student in York County, yet he never graduated from high school. He worked on the family farm until he started working with Pennsylvania Railroad in 1941 which later became Con Rail. He retired as a Gang Foreman after forty years of service. He is honored at the Pennsylvania Railroaders Museum in Strasburg, PA with a plaque in the Railroad Hall of Fame. He was one of the first ambulance drivers for the Lemoyne VFW Ambulance Association and was a volunteer firefighter for the Lemoyne Fire Department for over twenty years. Vance enjoyed going to the casino and loved watching his Phillies play ball. Vance was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years and children’s mother, Betty Jane Moul Kohler; sons, Gary Eugene and Ronald Kenneth Kohler; grandson, Christopher David Kohler; and great-grandson Lucas David Kramer. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Alice Lentz Kohler; daughter, Barbara Kramer of Mechanicsburg, PA; grandchildren Scott Kramer (Chris) of Indian Trail, NC, Mark Kramer (Kimberly) of Red Banks, MS, Jennifer Dusart of Mechanicsburg, PA and Tara Kohler of Harrisburg, PA; stepchildren Vicki Garber (Frank) of Hagerstown, MD, Donna Sweigard (Dave) of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Ken Hammaker of Harrisburg, PA; sisters Ruth Lenker of Mechanicsburg, PA, Martha Hollinger of Lewisberry, PA, Mary Crocker of California, Rhoda Brown of York Haven, PA, and Opal Beitler of Newburg, PA; great grandchildren Alex Kramer of Hot Springs, FL, Jackson Dusart of Harrisburg, PA, Thomas Kramer and Elizabeth Kramer of Indian Trail, and Abby Tanner of Red Banks, MS and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association 3544 N. Progress Ave, Harrisburg, or a charity of your choice. Viewing will be at Musselman Funeral Home, Lemoyne on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 12:00pm. The funeral services will begin at 1:00pm with internment immediately following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
