Obituary for Thomas Sturgill Thomas Wade Sturgill, age 57 of 156 White Acres Circle, Sparta, NC passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 12, 1961 in Alleghany County to Wade and Virginia Nichols Sturgill. Thomas was a devoted member of Bellview Baptist Church, and was a member of the Gideons International. He loved his family, friends and helping others. Thomas had a great sense of humor. He loved fishing, Cruise-In’s, and the Carolina Tarheels. He is survived by his wife, Darla Sturgill of the home; one stepdaughter, Holly Savage and husband Chris of Glade Valley; one stepson, Sam McClure and wife Hope of Glade Valley; four step-grandchildren, Zach Savage, Austin Savage, Emily McClure, Brice McClure; his parents, Wade and Virginia Sturgill of Sparta; three sisters, Judy Caudill and husband Stacy of Sparta, Janet Edwards and husband Rick of Elk Creek, VA, Susan Joines of Sparta; father-in-law, Elder Gib Lyon of Glade Valley; one brother-in-law, Greg Lyon and wife Karen of Ennice; one sister-in-law, Debby Edwards and husband Ronald Jack of Sparta; special friends, Gary and Gay Scott, and his CarQuest family; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Thomas at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Elder Gilbert Lyon and Brother Danny Pruitt officiating. There will be no formal visitation but the family will receive friends at the residence.
