Obituary for Susan Hazlett (Simmers) Susan Jane (Simmers) Hazlett, 75, Bellwood, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon June 24, 2018 after a one and half year battle with encephalitis. She was born March 18, 1943 in Altoona, daughter of the late George B. and Velda (Brown) Simmers. On Sept. 9, 1966 she married James A. Hazlett at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Altoona. Surviving are her husband, James; three sons, Michael A. of Bellwood, Paul B. of Riggles Gap and Mark A. (Kristin) of Altoona; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn; a brother, Ronnie Simmers of York; a sister, Lois Trotter of Hollidaysburg; and six nieces and fourteen nephews. Susan was a 1962 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was formerly employed at Diamond Supply and Crane Co., Hollidaysburg until she wed in 1966 and became a homemaker for fifty-one years. She was an active member of Riggles Gap Bible Church and she enjoyed sewing, flower gardens, and cooking for her family. Friends will be received from 6-9pm Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood and from 10-11am Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Riggles Gap Bible Church. A funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday at the church, Pastor William Ice officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Susan’s memory may be made to Riggles Gap Bible Church, 613 Lear Rd.
