Stanley Edgar Odekirk, age 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2018 at the Bennion Veterans Center in Payson, Utah. He was born on December 25, 1932 to Ernest E Odekirk and Gladys A Fitzwater in Duchesne, Utah. Stan attended schools in Duchesne. Upon graduation he served in the US Army special forces from 1951 to 1954. On January 11, 1955 he married Dian McDonald (later divorced). They had three children, Rodney , Laurie, and Leslie. Stan worked for Elias Morris and Sons for over 30 years as a carpenter. In 1992 he married Joan Pierce in Springville, Utah. Together they have 30 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren. Stan loved the outdoors and spent most of his life enjoying hunting, fishing and hiking with his dog Snapper.He is survived by his wife Joan, his children, Rod (Debbie), Laurie (Doug) Bills, and stepchildren, LaNiece (Terry) DeFreese, David (Linda) Jones, Chris (Sue Ellen) Jones, and Cheryl (Fred) Voit, and a sister Ernitta Robbins. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Leslie, and five older siblings, Cuba, Bill, Kay, Mary, and Bob. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Bennion Veterans Center in Payson, Utah for their service and kindness during Stans stay there. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 9:30 AM, prior to the services, at 11:00 AM at the LDS chapel, 878 West Center St. in Springville Utah. A graveside service / Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Duchesne City cemetery at 700 US 191.
