Shannon R Harshbarger Shafer May 12 1944 June 29 2018 (age 74)

Shannon R. (Harshbarger) Shafer of Troy, age 74, passed away on June 29, 2018. She was born to the late David and Evelyn (Netzley) Harshbarger in Troy, Ohio on May 12, 1944. In addition to her parents, Shannon was preceded in death by her husband Harold E. Shafer. She is survived by her loving children William B. Shafer of Troy and Jennifer J. (Shafer) Brinkman and her husband Neil of Elida, Ohio; grandchildren Austin and Jasmine Brinkman; and sister Valaria Harshbarger. Shannon was the Salutatorian of the class of 1962 at Milton-Union High School. She graduated from the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1965 and served as a nurse at Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy for over 30 years. She attended Laura Christian Church and was a member of the Miami County Republican Women’s Club, as well as the Piqua Lewis Voyer chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shannon’s honor to Hospice of Miami County.
