Samuel J. Potami Jr., age 67, passed away quietly in his home on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. “Sam,” as he was known by his friends and family, was born in Harrisburg, PA March 19, 1951, and is preceded in death by his wife of many years, Katherine Potami; his brothers, Joseph, Johnny, and Vincent; and his father, Samuel Potami Sr. Sam is survived by his mother Anne M. Potami, of Harrisburg, PA; his sister, Peggie Lesniak of Harrisburg, PA; and his loving daughter Cailin Potami, of Phoenix, AZ. Sam will also be sorely missed by his numerous nieces and nephews. If ever the term “people person,” applied to anyone, it truly applied to Sam. It was said that he never met anyone he could not find good in or have a lengthy conversation with. Sam was also considered quite the music “aficionado” and truly loved his rock and roll, especially his favorite band, The Kinks. Along with his music, Sam was an avid animal lover and was known to take in as many strays as he could, the last being “Wind-Free,” a feral feline he recently befriended. Above all else, Sam treasured precious moments spent with his cherished family and friends. His passing will now leave a hole in the lives of all those who had the honor and privilege of knowing him. A Mass of Christian Burial for Sam will be on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque Roman Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg PA 17110, at 11:00 A.M. Prior to the service, the family will be receiving guests for a visitation period between the hours of 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. Immediately following the service, final interment and committal for Sam will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, 4075 Derry Street, Harrisburg PA 17111, at 1:30 P.M. All are welcome to attend.
