Obituary for Samuel J. Grimaldi Saginaw, Michigan. Beloved father and grandfather passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre. Age 96 years. Son of the late Nicholas and Concetta (Conzanza) Grimaldi, Samuel was born May 25, 1922 in Gilford, Michigan. He was a 1951 graduate of Tri State University in Indiana with a mechanical engineering degree. He married Josephine M. Tutera on August 19, 1950. She predeceased him March 16, 2012. Samuel served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a B-24 pilot in WWII retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force. He also served in the National Guard as base engineer for the Battle Creek Base. He was an instructor of flying at the Sky Haven Airport. Samuel was employed by Consumers Energy as a mechanical engineer serving 32 years many of which were in the capacity as director of the gas department retiring in 1985. He was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church, serving on its finance committee and member of the ushers club. He was also a member the Knights of Columbus Council #593, volunteer for the Jets Club and past president of YMCA Toastmasters Club. Surviving to cherish his memory are one son and one daughter, Philip J. Grimaldi and Karen A. Grimaldi; two grandchildren, Paul Grimaldi and Angela Grimaldi. Samuel was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Gail A. Grimaldi; one sister and four brothers, Lucille Grimaldi, Mike, Louis, Frank and Tony Grimaldi. A private Funeral Liturgy took place Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. William Taylor and Deacon Roger Pasionek officiated with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
