Roy Edson Mercer, of Ogden Township, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 23, 2018 in his home. He was born August 12, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Roy F. Mercer and Stella B. Mercer. Roy grew up in Villa Grove, IL, in a farm family. He and his mother moved to Ogden Township in 1946. Roy was a farmer, factory worker, amateur pilot and truck driver. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Kay F. Mercer (Hakeos), his 3 boys David (Beverly) Woodbury, Alan(Kelly) Woodbury and Paul (special friend Patricia Martinez) Mercer. Grandchildren Kara, Blake, Angela, Kyle, Athena, Rebecca, Kamron, Kaylee and Micheal. Great-grandchildren, Elisabeth, Kira, Kayden, Adelynn, 7 sister-in-laws, 4 brother-in-laws and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Roy is proceeded in death by his mother Stella B. Mercer, father Roy F. Mercer, mother-in-law Helen Hakeos, father-in-law Ray Hakeos, brother-in-laws Mike Hakeos, Tom Hakeos, and Kenny Adams. Roy’s wishes were to be cremated and to have a small service which will be held at his home with family and friends July 8th, 2018. Please make any donations to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Lenawee.
