Rome Lee ‘Ree’ McIntyre, age 79, of Peoria, Illinois, died Monday, June 4, 2018, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehab in Mediapolis. The son of Raymond C. “Bud’ and Josephine Hunt McIntyre, he was born on June 3, 1939 at Wapello. He attended Fairview Country School and graduated from Wapello High School. Rome served in the US Army 1962-1964. He was an independent life insurance salesman for many years. Ree was a Mason and enjoyed cars, hunting, and golf. His family includes a nephew, Wayne & Cathy McIntyre; a niece Lori McIntyre; a sister-in-law, Carol McIntyre; two great nieces, Danielle & Darrick Beliel and McKayla McIntyre; a great nephew, Brendon McIntyre; and a great great niece, Blakely Beliel all of rural Mediapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dwight McIntyre; and a sister, Ann Vahle. Cremation has been fulfilled as he desired. The funeral ceremony for Rome McIntyre will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. Memorial gifts will benefit the Great River Hospice.
