Obituary of Robert Offenbacker Robert A. Offenbacker, age 85 of Halfmoon passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Born on November 15, 1932, he was the son of the late Martin and Esther Offenbacker. He was predeceased by his wife Kay Offenbacker, and granddaughter Crystal Gayle Irish. Robert served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Shenendehowa Schools for 27 years, doing carpentry and custodial work. He enjoyed playing in several banjo bands and traveled all over the world. He was a member of the Mechanicville Masons lodge and the Eastern Star and volunteered much of his time helping with the food pantry. He was affectionally known as the “mayor” of Parkland Gardens in Schenectady. He is survived by daughters Gail (Al) Irish, Pam Wilbur, Beth (Paul) Offenbacker-Coleus, and Robin (William) Rogers-McCloskey, grandchildren Bobbie Jo, Fawn, Adelord, Jeffrey, Sarah, Zachary, and Jocelyn; great-grandchildren Jessica, Kimberly, Brianna, Christian, Dakota, and Logan, and great-great-grandson Jamie. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 3rd at 2 p.m. at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY, 965 Albany Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110.
