Obituary for Robert Reyns Mr. Robert Gene Reyns, age 87, of Covington, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. He was the husband of Elizabeth Johnson Reyns. Mr. Reyns was born December 23, 1930 in Covington, the son of the late Robert Roscoe Reyns, Sr. and Lottie Humphries Reyns. He graduated from N.C. State with a degree in Forestry and moved to Newberry, SC where he began his career as a service forester. Bob later moved to Columbia, SC where he was supervised forestry and wildlife, as well as coordinated environmental programs at Fort Jackson. Upon retirement, Mr. Reyns moved back to Covington to enjoy life in the mountains. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. Bob enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Mr. Reyns is survived by a daughter, Gena R. Brigman and husband, John of Columbia, SC and two grandsons, John Parks Brigman, Jr. and wife, Heidi and Dr. Robert Reyns Brigman and wife, Garner-Leigh. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 15, 2018, at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. Donald Earwood officiating.
