Richard E. Bowes the son of Howard H. and Fern VanWinkle Bowes was born August 15, 1928 at Lexington, Nebraska. He departed this life on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Brodstone Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 89 years 9 months and 18 days. Richard attended school in Superior, Nebraska graduating with the class of 1945. Richard was baptized at First Christian Church in Colby, KS in 1952. Richard was united in marriage with his childhood companion Phyllis Thornton in 1946. To this union three sons were born. Richard and Phyllis enjoyed traveling and used his career with Swift and Company to expose himself and family to Colby, KS, St. Joseph, MO; Chicago, IL; Des Moines, IA; Rochelle, IL; Melrose Park, IL; Key Biscayne, FL; Westfield and Montclair, NJ. from 1979 to 1981 Richard joined a New York management consulting firm and traveled to South Africa on various assignments after which he moved to Omaha, NE then onto Superior, NE to retire in 1993. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis; son Craig, brother Ivan and Don Bowes; and a sister Mary Ann Beavers. Survivors include his sons: Terry Bowes of Chesterfield, VA; John Bowes of Mason City, IA; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
